A proper musician who loves teaching
I'm Patrick Bryson — guitarist, teacher, and music lover based in Brighton. I've been playing for over 30 years and teaching for more than a decade.
I got into teaching because I saw how many adults gave up guitar due to boring lessons, confusing theory, and teachers who didn't listen to what they actually wanted to play.
I specialise in teaching you songs and the styles you want to play. Be that classic rock, pop, campfire, finger style or songs to accompany your singing. I’m here to help you get going on guitar.

Client Reviews
“Patrick is endlessly patient and super approachable. He continues to adapt his teaching to what works best for me. He brings great energy and enthusiasm to the session, always prepared with helpful ideas for me. Lessons are a pleasure. 100 per cent would recommend.”
— Katherine, Brighton (age 36)“Not only was Patrick’s enthusiasm catching, but he went above and beyond. When I told him I liked Radiohead, he came to our next session armed with songs that would challenge me but which I could realistically learn. He has certainly ignited my interest in playing more Guitar!”
— Keith, beginner student, Brighton (age 44)“Patrick is an incredible instructor. He knew exactly what I wanted to achieve and immediately understood my musical tastes, offering up an extensive catalogue of songs to draw from. His lessons are easy and broken down in simplistic terms, allowing you to walk away confident in a song that you have just learned. I cannot recommend Patrick highly enough. A gentle, kind and patient instructor that will elevate your guitar playing to the next level.”

-
Absolutely not. Most of my students are adults who either never played before or tried years ago and want to pick it back up. Adults are often quicker learners than children; you have motivation and context on your side.
-
For your first lesson, no, I can provide one. After that, I'll help you find the right guitar for your budget if you don't already have one. Acoustic or electric, both are welcome.
-
Most students are playing recognisable parts of songs within the first couple of lessons.
